Engineering Ready: Essential Workplace Skills equips returning and new engineering workers with essential workplace skills as well as the CCNSG National Safety Passport, helping employers strengthen safety, compliance, confidence, teamwork and productivity while reducing induction time significantly.
As well as the CCNSG National Safety Passport, Engineering Ready: Essential Workplace Skills includes a package of five online courses designed to provide new starters with the essential knowledge and skills they need to work safely, confidently and effectively in an engineering environment.
Learners must complete the 2-day CCNSG National Safety Passport at one of our centres and then can choose to complete the courses online at their own pace or opt to return to the centre for an additional £25, and complete the rest of the programme in one day.
In addition to the ECITB-accredited CCNSG National Safety Passport, the course comprises five Highfield-accredited e-learning courses covering Equality and Diversity, Introduction to Fire Safety, Personal Development, Team Working, and Communication. It is an ideal induction package for employees who are new to engineering.

CCNSG National Safety Passport
This two-day in-centre course brings together the aspects of site safety in many different industry settings, covering the following modules:
• Introduction to Health and Safety legislation
• Safe Working Practices
• Safe Access and Egress
• Accidents and First-Aid procedures
• COSHH and Personal Protective Equipment
• Manual Handling
• Noise
• Working with Cranes and Heavy Equipment
• Excavations
The card is valid for three years.
Communication
This 30 – 40 minute online training course is designed to highlight the importance of effective communication in busy hospitality environments, and its integral role in company culture and business success. Key learning topics include:
- Understanding the two-way communication cycle
- Identifying and overcoming common communication barriers
- Best practices for connecting with teams and clients
- Building confidence in verbal and non-verbal interactions
Equality & Diversity
This 30-minute online course is ideal for new employees as part of their workplace induction. It introduces the principles of equality, diversity and inclusion, helping learners understand the importance of equal opportunities and fair treatment at work.
The course also explains the legal and ethical responsibilities that support inclusive workplaces, equipping learners to recognise discrimination, promote fairness and contribute to a respectful working environment.
Introduction to Fire Safety
This 20 – 40 minute online course teaches employees how to identify fire hazards, prevent incidents, and respond safely during emergencies.
Personal Development
This 30-minute online course helps individuals understand their emotions, strengths, and weaknesses. By enhancing self-awareness, learners can improve personal and professional skills, embrace change effectively, and positively impact all aspects of their lives.
Team Working
Ideal for new starters where an understanding of team working is required. This short online course is ideal for use as part of the on-programme element of the apprenticeship standards and can support the knowledge, skills and behaviours apprentices need to effectively integrate into the workplace.
The online package is available is undertake remotely or at an NLT training centre – the 2-day CCNSG National Safety Passport must be undertaken at one of our centres.
