Who should attend: The learning is designed for Operations Managers. Roles and responsibilities may also include but are not limited to developing teams and individuals, creating operational plans, planning and managing projects, managing change, managing finance, resources and identifying new approaches to business activities, managing quality and continuous improvement as well as managing the human resources function.
Assessment: The learning is completed remotely with self-study, supported by an approved CMI assessor. You will complete assignments which are assessed by the assessor; feedback is given via an e-portfolio system called ‘Quals Direct’ and the assessor will guide you to complete the assignment. There are no examinations. Individuals will also receive affiliate membership of the Chartered Management Institute whilst studying, giving access to the Institutes online learning resources.
Certification: Certification is awarded through Chartered Management Institute – CMI. All courses have progression opportunities within the framework of Management and Leadership
Progression: Following completion, CMI recommends the following qualifications:
- CMI Level 6 Management and Leadership
- CMI Level 5 in Coaching and Mentoring
About the Chartered Management Institute (CMI): The Chartered Management Institute offers a range of qualifications aimed at practising or aspiring managers who will supervise or manage a team to achieve clearly defined outcomes. They will set and monitor goals and objectives by providing instruction, direction and guidance. Day to day operational and project activities are a key part of their role.
Qualifications are aimed at practising or aspiring managers and leaders who are typically accountable to a senior manager or business owner. The primary role of a practising or aspiring manager and leader is to lead and manage individuals and teams to deliver aims and objectives in line with organisational strategy.
Award: One unit which equals 6 credits. This will introduce you to the roles and responsibilities required for managers.
Certificate: Two or Three units which equals 13 credits. This qualification will provide a broader knowledge of skills and help you be more effective in specific management areas with an increased focus on the areas most appropriate to your role.
Diploma: Up to eight units which equals 37 credits. This will give you a fully comprehensive bank of skills and knowledge required to be a manager as part of an organisation as well to apply your learning in the context of another organisation or industry sector.
