Jonathon Muse, Maintenance Engineer at Lincoln & York, after the successful completion of Principles of Leadership and Management Level 3 with NLT Training Services

The successful completion of Principles of Leadership and Management Level 3 with NLT Training Services, has resulted in the addition of a valuable qualification to Jonathan Muse’s CV and career potential. 

 

“I’m certainly proud to be adding The Level 3 CMI Leadership and Management qualification to my CV,” said Jonathan. 

 

The Level 3 course is designed for aspiring, supervisory or first line managers, providing an excellent foundation for future leaders like Jonathan, to build on. 

 

Jonathan is the maintenance engineer at Lincoln & York, a private label coffee roasting and supply specialist based in Brigg, North Lincolnshire. He joined Lincoln & York after leaving the army in 2018. 

 

Jonathan wasn’t on his own when he did the course; his boss engineering manager Marc Rockall, is working towards the Level 5 Principles of Leadership and Management with NLT at the same time. Marc’s course is designed for mid managers, focusing on the developing core management skills. 

 

It was also Marc who asked Jonathan if he’d like to do the course. Jonathan explained: “I was happy that work offered me the chance to gain a qualification which not only benefits them, but me too. 

 

Jonathan welcomed the support of having a colleague studying at the same time. He said: “I found it so useful that Marc was working through his course at the same time as me. We both focused on the training at the same time. We had conversations about leadership and management and discussed professional hurdles and challenges in these areas. NLT provided us with the opportunity to talk about approaches to core management challenges and problem solving.” 

 

Over twelve months Jonathan combined studying for the course with his job. As a working dad with a busy job and family life to navigate, Jonathan needed to complete the course at his own pace.

   

He added: “It was a commitment on my part to work hard to complete this course. It was all worth it though. Now, I have the learning, knowledge and qualification under my belt, and it will help me to progress with confidence. 

 

“My tutor, Steven Temperton, was really nice and understood my time pressures; I was able to work through the tasks with the easy-to-use NLT portal at times that suited me best. 

“Steven was there when I needed him and was easy to work with. He gave me feedback on my assignments and shared resources with me.” 

 

With Principles of Leadership and Management Level 3 now securely on his CV, Jonathan is looking forward to developing and implementing his Level 3 skills within his current role at Lincoln & York. 

 

“I think that the Level 5 work completed by Marc looks great for potentially moving my career to the next level when the time is right.”
