People are paying unnecessarily high rates for CCNSG Safety Passport training, NLT Training Services has warned.

The ECITB set rate for the two-day CCNSG Safety Passport training course is £180 including VAT. However, the price is being inflated by brokers unofficially acting as a booking agency for some training providers, including NLT.

The CCNSG (Client Contractor National Safety Group) Safety Passport is the engineering construction industry safety card. With workers requiring a valid CCNSG Safety Passport to enter many engineering and construction sites, around 30,000 people complete the course each year.

NLT doesn’t not use third party booking systems or brokers. All training can be booked through www.nlt-training.co.ukor by calling 0333 880 3540 to ensure the best price and best service.

As an ECITB approved training provider the prices NLT charges for the full Passport, Renewal, Test Only Renewal and Leading a Team Safely CCNSG courses are set by ECITB. Both NLT’s Scunthorpe and Chesterfield training centres listed on the ECITB website.

Sarah Temperton, Chief Executive of NLT Training Services explained: “We have not authorised any training broker to sell our courses, however it has come to light that a number are doing so and inflating our prices. This only comes to light when people arrive to do the course and we have no record of them as the broker has failed to pass on their details to us and often the course is already full. This reflects badly on us and it’s something we need to stop.”

The CCNSG National Course is a two-day training course in basic site safety. On completion, successful candidates receive a CCNSG Safety Passport. This is the engineering construction industry safety card, which is valid for three years. Renewal of the card can now be undertaken online in a one-hour multiple-choice course.

NLT was one of the first in the East Midlands region to deliver the new CCNSG National Safety Passport ‘Test only Renewal’,  replacing what traditionally had always been a full day’s course.

A CCNSG Safety Passport must be renewed every three years. Delegates are allowed to undertake the Test Only Renewal twice in six years after which they are required to undertake the full-day classroom-based course.

If candidates cannot pass the test only renewal option, they will be required to successfully complete the full two-day CCNSG course  rather than the one day renewal one to renew their CCNSG passport.
