Description
The two-day MPQC/SPA Safety Passport course is designed to provide basic information and areas of responsibility 
for health, safety and the environment, as well as concentrating on the risks specifically in the mineral extraction and products industry.
The MPQC/SPA (Mineral Products Qualification Council/Safety Pass Alliance) Safety Passport is an industry-recognised qualification that grants access onto mineral extraction and product sites.
The course is designed to bring delegates up to a standard of Health & Safety that is expected in the quarrying and mining industry.
NLT Training Services also offers a one day MPQC/SPA Safety Passport Renewal course for those whose passport is nearing its expiry date.
Who Should Attend:
The MPQC/SPA Safety Passport course has been designed for contractors or employees that operate within the extractives, processing and related mineral manufacturing industries.
Assessment:
The MPQC/SPA Safety Passport is assessed with a SPA /MPQC Test Papers at the end of each training session. This comprises a multi-choice question paper based on course material and DVDs.
Certification:
At the end of the two-day course, delegates receive an MPQC/SPA Contractor Safety Passport which will be valid for three years. Delegates will also receive a MPQC Level 2 Award in Understanding Safe Working for Contractors in Extractives and Building Products Industries Sites (QCF).
The two-day course, set out by the Safety Pass Alliance and the Mineral Products Qualification Council, covers the following areas:
Day One:
Introduction to Health & Safety Law and Safe Systems of Work
Workplace Safety
Fire Precautions & Procedures
Accident & First Aid Procedures
Hazardous Substances
Manual Handling
Noise at Work
Day Two:
Introduction to Extractive/Quarry Products/Mineral Processing Industry
Health & Safety Management Relating to Quarry Operations
Working with Cranes and Heavy Equipment
Safe Working – Excavations and Confined Spaces
Working at Heights
Upon completion of the course, the delegates will:
Demonstrate their understanding of the subjects by successfully completing each assessment
Appreciate how they can personally influence good standards within health, safety and the environment
Understand the value of risk assessment and have the knowledge to recognise when change to a generic assessment is required
Understand the common hazards associated with working in this sector
