IOSH Managing Safely
Description
This three-day IOSH (Institute of Occupational Safety and Health) Managing Safely training course is for managers and supervisors who need to know how to manage their workforce in a safe and controlled manner. It has a strong focus on business but is useful for supervisors in any industry.
Delegates will learn about workplace Health and Safety and how it applies in real-life situations. It gives step-by-step advice without any complicated jargon or off-putting legal terms.
The course will enable managers to apply sound management principles to manage Health and Safety effectively, build an in-depth awareness of Health and Safety practices, implementing them and understanding risk assessments. At the end of the course you will demonstrate your new-found competencies by successfully completing a practical and written exam.
Who Should Attend:
This course is for managers and supervisors who want to know how to lead their workforce in line with Health and Safety legislation. As a recognised industry certificate, attending the IOSH Managing Safely course is of benefit to anyone holding a managerial position in any industry.
Assessment:
The course is assessed on two aspects: written and practical tests. The written test comprises 30 multi-format questions on what has been covered during the training course.
The practical test involves writing and creating a risk assessment. Each attendee is given a template and guidelines of what is expected. The delegate must undertake the project independently and submit within a two-week period of undertaking the course.
Certification:
Once successfully completing the course, delegates will receive a certificate from the the nationally-recognised and respected industry body IOSH.
Course Dates:
This course runs one day a week for three weeks.
The IOSH Managing Safely course consists of the following modules:
- Introducing managing safely
- Assessing risks
- Controlling risks
- Understanding your responsibilities
- Identifying hazards
- Investigating accidents and incidents
- Measuring performance
- Protecting our environment
Upon successful completion of the course, delegates will:
- Be able to assess and control risks and hazards
- Understand their role and responsibility for Health and Safety
- Be able to investigate incidents
- Understand how to measure their own performance
- Allow for personal reflections on good practice
