Qualification of personnel competency in the assembly of the bolted connections of critical service pressurised systems.
Published on 31st August 2013, this European standard applies to all personnel who dismantle, assemble and tighten bolted joints on pressurised systems in critical service.
This course provides the knowledge and practical skills required for dismantling and assembling flanged connections in pipelines as used in the process industry (particularly hazardous Industries).
Who Should Attend:
Those involved in working with pipework and breaking containment and making bolted flange connections in all hazardous industries such as (but not limited to) offshore oil and gas, petrochemical, chemical and nuclear.
Assessment:
This qualification is assessed through a combination of formative question and answer sessions, formative tests, a written theory test (pass mark 80%) and practical exercises.
Certification:
On successful completion of the course, all learners will receive a certificate of training in accordance with the BSEN1591-4:2013 qualification and photographic ID card.

- Joint Integrity Tags/Flange Management
Learners will have to:
- Explain how to ensure intended task conforms to related specification, methods, process, techniques and procedure.
- Dismantle hand torque bolted connection systems.
- Remove components from hand torque bolted connection systems.
- Replace components in hand torque bolted connection systems.
- Assemble, secure and hand torque bolted connections.
- Verify the integrity of the assembled joint.
The course includes video, audio, photographic and physical training aids – including industry case studies of failure due to lack of joint integrity.
