Description

This three to five day course is bespoke to your experience and is designed for delegates who have very little or no previous welding experience and wish to learn the foundation skills of welding which may help in employment or hobby interests.

Before the course, an initial skills assessment will be undertaken in order to determine your exact training requirements. From here, a bespoke training package will be developed for your specific needs.

The course introduces a range of welding techniques to delegates as well as how to set-up equipment for the processes. It is designed to enable individuals to complete the welding of joints in simple positions; welding skills that are typically found in the industry. It covers instruction in basic weld joints tee-fillet/butt weld in flat, horizontal and vertical positions.

This course, which is run by NLT’s own welding instructors, will provide delegates with the knowledge and practical skills to set up and maintain welding equipment, and introduce them to welding process and help them train towards BSI 4872.

Before the course, NLT Training Services will carry out an initial skills assessment to determine your exact training requirements and develop a bespoke training package accordingly.

Who Should Attend: 

This course is suitable for people in the welding industry who have very title or no previous welding experience.

Assessment:

As this is not an accredited course, there is no assessment.

Certification:

There is no certification for this course as it is not accredited. However, the course content can be used to support any related NVQ programmes.

By the end of the course, the delegates will:

  • Know when and how to apply the MIG / MAG or flux cored-wire techniques
  • Understand the welding process
  • Know how to apply the techniques safely
  • Know how to prepare the equipment, materials and consumables
  • Understand the safety precautions required when in a workplace.
