Train to Gain Funding
What is Train to Gain?

Funded National Vocational Qualifications (NVQs) under Train to Gain Service

NVQs are work-related qualifications that demonstrate competence in a particular field of work to national occupational standards.  NVQs show that the employee has the skills and knowledge needed to do the specified job effectively.

What are the benefits of NVQs for employers?

  • Relevant to business and are work-related.
  • Up to date with best practice.
  • Ensures that staff are working to national standards and training needs are identified.
  • Creates a positive and motivated workforce leading to lower staff turnover and absence.
  • Greater productivity, performance and competitiveness.
  • Staff gain a clear understanding of their responsibilities.
  • Raised standards of performance delivery to customers.

What are the benefits of NVQs for employees?

  • Recognition of existing skills.
  • Evidence that you can do your job to a nationally recognised standard.
  • Gain confidence in your chosen area.
  • Learning by 'doing’ rather than sitting exams or tests.
  • Mainly work-based so you can fit it into your work routine.
  • Flexible: completed at a time and pace to suit within agreed limits.

NVQs are qualifications to be valued.  All the key aspects of the job are covered in NVQs including current best practice, adaptability to meet future requirements and the knowledge and understanding that underpin competent performance.

Your NVQ trained staff will go on to share skills with new recruits adding even more value to the NVQ.  The system is flexible, therefore NVQs are suitable for those who already have skills which they would like to develop and have recognised as well as those who are starting at the beginning.

Funding Opportunities - Train to Gain

Under the Train to Gain service, NLT Training Services is able to offer NVQ Level 2 training at no cost for eligible candidates to help employers and employees gain from training.  To meet the funding criteria your employees need to be over 19 and do not currently hold Level 2 qualification (this could either be five GCSEs at Grades A-C or equivalent or a vocational qualification), then we can offer full Level 2 training at no cost.
