Course Objectives
• To enable participants to achieve work based competences in Lift Truck activities and be health and safety conscious whist performing their duties.
• To assist participants to gain a nationally recognised Lift Truck License and a City and Guilds NVQ level 2 qualification.
• To improve the skills level of an Employer’s Workforce
Course Content
Fork Lift Practical has the following options:
Refresher Test candidates:
Will do a 1 day forklift/H&S Cse either at customer site or our centre, followed over a 3 month period with approx 4 visits by a training officer to the individual at customer site to teach/witness skills of individual as part of the NVQ and at the end of this the person would have an accredited Fork lift Lic and an NVQ. (must complete NVQ for fork lift lic)
Refresher Test candidate for 2 vehicles:
Will do a 2-3 day forklift/H&S Cse either at customer site or our centre, followed over a 3 month period with approx 4 visits by a training officer to the individual at customer site to teach/witness skills of individual as part of the NVQ and at the end of this the person would have an accredited Fork lift Lic and an NVQ.
(must complete NVQ for fork lift lic)
Novices:
Will do a 5 day forklift/H&S Cse, or if they have already been driving the trucks but do not hold a license, they will do a 3 Day forklift/H&S Cse either at customer site or our centre, followed over a 3 month period with approx 4 visits by a training officer to the individual at customer site to teach/witness skills of individual as part of the NVQ and at the end of this the person would have an accredited Fork lift Lic and an NVQ. (must complete NVQ for fork lift lic)
Following an introduction to the standards and procedures and the discussion about, and completion of, a work based Skillscan the candidate, together with his/her assessor will be required to submit evidence of competence against four units, comprising:
Mandatory Units
201 Contribute to Efficient and Effective Working environment during Lift Truck Operations
202 Contribute to Health & Safety in the Workplace – Lift Trucks
203 Operate a Lift truck
204 Lift transfer and position loads using a lift truck
The above will be evidenced through written assignments and observations.

Assessment on site – this will include one to one portfolio building sessions off the job
