NLT APPRENTICES GET ON THE BUS!

Engineering Apprentices in the North Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire areas can now continue to reap the benefits of arranged transportation to enable them to attend Engineering skills training at NLT Training Services in Chesterfield and gain valuable qualifications that will help improve their career prospects.

In conjunction with the Coalfields Regeneration Trust (CRT), which has funded the brand new 16-seater minibus, NLT Training Services can now continue to offer daily transport to all young people to ensure they attend and get the most out of their course.

Steve Meadows, NLT Training Services’ chief executive, explains: “The new Minibus means that we can continue to provide transportation for young people in rural locations which are poorly served by public transport and will give them the opportunity to receive first class engineering skills training from us and in turn develop a promising career.

He continues: “We are delighted with the funding support we have received from the Coalfields Regeneration Trust and look forward to many more Apprentices being able to access quality training as a result of the new minibus and that we can now continue with our pick-up and drop-off service.”

Peter McNestry CRT Chair added, “The CRT is committed to breaking down the barriers to employment and training in former coalfield communities. Many of these communities are rural and therefore isolated. The investment in a new minibus for NLT removes those barriers to training and will ensure that young people in these communities will now be able to access quality vocational training which will enable them to become more employable, flourish and help them work towards successful careers.”

The CRT is an independent grant-making organisation that was established in 1999 to improve the quality of life in Britain’s coalfield communities. They are a registered charity and a company limited by guarantee, governed by a board of 13 trustees. A coalfield community is an area that solely relied on the mining industry and due to numerous closures in this sector many residents were left jobless and often with limited access to local resources and social activities.
