APPRENTICES PART OF AN EXCITING FUTURE AT OXDALE PRODUCTS

Oxdale Products Ltd, an innovative manufacturer of agricultural products based in Workshops in North Nottinghamshire, is the latest company to benefit from the high quality training that NLT Training Services offers to Apprentices. The company has recently taken on two apprentices who are currently training for their Level 2 Apprenticeships in Performing Engineering Operation and Industrial Applications with the training provider.

Both Scott Milner (16) from Renishaw and Kevin Drury (21) from Brimington visited Oxdale Products Ltd separately for a two week work trial, where they underwent several fabrication tasks using the skills they had already gained with NLT Training Services. All tasks had to be performed accurately and to a very high standard, which gave Oxdale directors Chris Butcher and Stephen Mallender an insight into exactly what the two apprentices could offer the company, and as a result both were offered roles as Fabrication Welders.

Oxdale Products, which was established just 14 months ago, is a manufacturer of log splitters; an innovative design that speeds up the splitting of logs and other wooden objects when connected to the rear power supply of a tractor.  The company also supplies fire wood to many home owners in the region.

Chris Butcher, Joint Managing Director of Oxdale Products, explains: “We were impressed with the skills that Scott and Kevin have gained at NLT and are pleased to be able to offer them both Apprenticeships within the company.  We feel it is very important to invest in developing our own talent for the future and recruiting Apprentices is a great way to do this.  We are looking forward to seeing them progress within the business.”

Dave McDermott, Welding Instructor at NLT said: “Both Scott and Kevin have done exceptionally well to secure a job so early on in their courses and this is a great chance for them to get some real hands-on experience. Oxdale is a relatively new company but is growing quickly and the skills that Scott and Kevin learn with us will be very relevant to their day-to-day roles in the business. “

NLT Training Services offers the option of flexible study – Scott, for example, is spending one day a week with the training provider, whereas Kevin is taking the block release route, where he will spend a week at a time in NLT’s training centre for the rest of his Apprenticeship.

Although Oxdale is still a young company, they have been successful enough to be able to double their workforce and have already gained a vast dealer network both in the UK and across Europe.
NLT Training Services offers an extensive range of professional, skilled and manual training programmes, including Apprenticeships in Electrical and Mechanical Engineering, Welding & Fabrication, Business Administration, Customer Service, Retail and Warehouse & Distribution.
