Course Objectives
• To understand the need for Managing Construction Risks
• Identify legal requirements with regard to Managing Health and Safety and Construction Risks
• To understand the consequences, legal and financial, of failing to manage Construction Risks
• Identify and understand the process, sequence and purpose of investigation
• Understand the reporting procedure.

Designed For
This programme is ideal for anyone who is responsible for Constrcuction site safety or conducting risk assessments on
Construction sites.
Candidates will be required to pass a practical examination and 2 written examinations in order to achieve this qualification.

The programme is split into 2 sections –

NGC - MANAGEMENT OF HEALTH AND SAFETY (6 days)

• Health and Safety Foundations
• Policy
• Organising for Health and Safety
• Promoting a Positive Health and Safety Culture
• Risk Assessment
• Principles of Control
• Incident investigation, recording and reporting
• Monitoring Review and Audit

NCC1 - MANAGING AND CONTROLLING HAZARDS IN
CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITIES (8 days)

• Construction law and management
• Construction activities hazards and control
• Movement of people and vehicles – hazards and control
• Manual and mechanical handling – hazards and control
• Work equipment – hazards and control
• Electrical hazards and control
• Fire hazards and control
• Chemical and biological health hazards and control
• Physical and psychological health hazards and control
• Working at height – hazards and control
• Excavation work and confined spaces – hazards and control
• Demolition hazards and control

NCC2 - CONSTRUCTION HEALTH AND SAFETY PRACTICAL APPLICATION

14 days - full course

8 days - NCC1 and
NCC2 only
(Must have completed
NGC1 in the last 5 years)
