Conflict Resolution

With a recent study confirming that over half of the population will at some point in their careers experience a major conflict, businesses in Derbyshire are being offered the chance to protect themselves from confrontational behaviour, thanks to a new training course introduced by NLT Training Services.

The Chartered Institute of Environmental Health (CIEH) Conflict Resolution course is aimed at all employees, including receptionists, factory staff and directors alike – in fact anyone who could possibly find themselves in a potentially threatening situation in the workplace.

Peter Minto, health and safety training officer at NLT Training Services, explains: “With the increasing cases of conflict at work, it is vitally important that staff are equipped to deal with potentially dangerous situations.”

He continues: “The course takes just half a day to complete and is ideal for employees working in all types of industries, especially those in the caring professions, in retail, leisure and the hospitality sectors – anyone who has day-to-day contact with the general public. The aim is to provide practical support and advice on better protecting yourself should a conflict arise.  It also helps minimise risks for business owners, providing a more harmonious working environment to the benefit of both customers and staff.”

The course content looks at several issues, including the law, work environments, resolving confrontational situations and personal safety.

Every year, many thousands of people suffer physical and psychological damage in the workplace and employers have a duty of care to provide a safe workplace for their employees.  Often, it is the lack of training and awareness of how to cope with situations that leads to conflict and potential injury, which may be preventable.

NLT Training Services is taking bookings now for this course, which will take place on 9th December. For more information and to book your place on this course, contact 01246 206520 or visit the website www.nlt-training.co.uk.
