Course Objectives
On completion of training, candidates will be able to:
• Clearly understand stability and instability of the truck and loads
• Understand the basic design features of the lift truck
• Understand the need for key security, stages of training and written authorisation
• Be aware of the need for continued monitoring if operators
• Be aware of the need to carry out a routine pre-use inspection of the truck, and keeping a truck logbook
• Recognise common accident causes and the steps to be taken in avoiding such accidents
• Understand where the legislation regarding lift trucks can be found

Course Content
• Legislation connected to the operation of lift trucks
• ACOP L117, HSG 6, PUWER, LOLER
• The Design function and limitations of the lift truck and attachments
• Demonstration of safe working practices and common accident causes
• Company safety policy
• Training requirements for operators including ratios, training area record of training and written authorisation
• Supervision of operators, further monitoring and reporting procedures
• The design function and limitation of associated equipment
• Pre-use inspection and records
• Written theory test
