Course Objectives
• To be assessed to and achieve Fork Lift Truck operator standards, and a Nationally accredited license
• To be aware of the maintenance and pre-operation checks of fork trucks
• To achieve necessary driver standards for operating industrial fork lift trucks
• To be aware of Fork Truck operator responsibilities

Designed For
Novices and experienced drivers who need to be assessed and certified as competent drivers

Course Content
• Health & Safety at Work Act applicable to Fork Trucks
• Engineering principles of Fork Trucks
• Daily checks and record keeping, battery care/ refuelling procedures
• Rating plates and weight assessment
• The hydraulic system
• Vehicle loading and unloading
• Fork truck hazards and operator's safety code
• Practical driving and manoeuvring
• Stacking and de-stacking
• Practical and theory tests

Location:
NLT Training or employers premises if suitable

Duration:
5 days for novice operators

3 days if the delegate has experience of operating a Fork Truck but has had no previous training

2 day conversion course
