Course Objectives
This 2 day course is aimed at those with an understanding of cranes and lifting procedures
and is ideal for those whose job includes the role of a “lift supervisor”.
Designed For
This course is designed for the experienced Slinger/Signaller who will be supervising lifting operations.
Course Content
• Understand and follow instructions given in the form of a method statement.
• Identify the roles and responsibilities of all personnel involved in a lifting operation and brief them in their duties as dictated in the method statement.
• Brief all personnel on the specific hazards involved in the lifting operation as identified in the risk assessment.
• Site and position a crane and any other ancillary equipment in accordance with a lifting plan.
• Ensure that the area of operation is suitable for lifting activities and in accordance with a lifting plan.
• Identify & explain the relevant information relating to lifting equipment and accessories and match to certification.
• Confirm appropriate lifting accessories for different types of load as identified in a lifting plan.
• Initiate and supervise a safe system of work to include:
• Any site preparation to be carried out.
• Slinging and placing accurately, various loads including balanced, unbalanced and loose, including to and from confined and
blind areas.
• Site clearance and the return of lifting accessories to storage.
