We would just like to take this opportunity to thank Brian & Dave for there help and support in our selection process for an Engineering Apprentice.
The 4 candidates we had at our company for interviews were all a credit to your organisation and we found ourselves pleasantly surprised how they handled the interviews and how they all shown knowledge and interest in the training they have already received and what they were hoping for in the future from an Engineering Apprenticeship.
We originally were only going to take on one person, but after seeing all 4 candidates and discussing at length what would be the best way forward for our company, we took the decision that we would take on 2 of the lads and with continued training at NLT & on the job with ourselves over the next few years hopefully both parties will benefit greatly.
Nick Bostock, Training Manager, Tarmac Ltd
NLT Training Services go that extra mile to ensure that we receive the best quality training at a time and location that is convenient to us.
We've had Health and Safety training delivered to employees at sites throughout the UK and we're delighted with the service we receive.
Martin Ridgley, Managing Director,
As a member of NLT's excellent corporate membership scheme we take full advantage of the whole range of benefits.
With their broad range of products they can fulfil all our training needs from Apprentices through to complex multi-skilling programmes.
Karen Bates, Engineering Manager at Thorntons in Alfreton
Train to Gain is a great way of up-skilling the workforce. We have definitely noticed an increase in staff knowledge and confidence as well as employees being more aware of their responsibilities.
We are already seeing an increase in efficiency and productivity, as our technicians now have the skills to do minor repairs, which means we don’t have to call on our engineers to do these small tasks, when they could be needed for larger repair jobs elsewhere in the factory.
NLT Training Services was responsive to our needs and offered a supportive and flexible service, working around our shift patterns to deliver the training.
Mike Newton, HR Manager at KM Furniture
Train to Gain is making an incredible difference to our workforce. In particular there is a noticeable improvement in employees’ interest in their jobs and the part they play in the business. I think this is down to the fact that we are showing a commitment to them by putting them through the training, as well as giving them a feeling of self worth.
The best thing about NLT’s Train to Gain service is that they are getting staff back into learning and helping those that want to progress even further in the business to learn more. It is also opening up new opportunities for them to move onto higher potitions within the company in the future.
The more you train people, the better they become at their job.
NLT Training Services gave a great service. Our training officer was always on hand when we needed to ask any questions and seemed to understand the nature of our business and needs of our staff. We would like to say a big thank you to everyone at NLT for all their help.
Mark Vincent, Train to Gain learner at KM Furniture
The NVQ is great and I have learnt a lot from it. The Health and Safety aspect was particularly useful as it makes you more aware of potential hazards and how to avoid accidents.
David Bedford, national health & safety and quality manager for Eriks
We have worked with NLT for many years and are delighted with the service they provide. They are very flexible and are always willing to help and to design bespoke, approved courses to meet our needs.
Health and safety is a vital part of everyone’s role within our company. We are aiming to minimise risks and protect our employees and customers as much as possible. By working with NLT, we can ensure that all our staff’s health & safety training is up to date and that they have the best possible protection.
Chesterfield Special Cylinders
James Taylor, an Apprentice at Chesterfield Special Cylinders
I always preferred practical work to office work or being in front of a computer. Starting at NLT and working in their training centre really gave me a good insight into what it’s like inside an engineering works, before I actually started the job. Because I work on the maintenance side, it’s the variety that makes it so interesting and the fact that I am learning so much, every day. I’d definitely recommend engineering to other young people, as there is so much to learn and plenty of opportunities for the future.
Phil Catton, Production Director at Chesterfield Special Cylinders
We were finding it difficult to recruit staff with the right skills and decided that we would invest in our own home grown talent. James is the first apprentice we have taken on since our management buyout in 2005 and since then we have recruited three more Apprentices, who are currently training with NLT Training Services. Our business success is based on the quality of the people we employ and James has already set a high standard for any future young engineers!
Eamonn Higgins, Site and Production Manager a Sonneborn & Rieck
Train to Gain is helping staff build their confidence, especially for those who have not had training before or who have been out of education for a long time.
The training will definitely have an impact within the company because by enhancing the employees ability and confidence it will give us a more competent and proactive workforce.
Graham Millington, Train to Gain learner at Sonneborn & Rieck
The Team Leading NVQ has increased my confidence, as well as giving me better guidelines to use. It was refreshing to learn new skills and it really made me think about the tasks I was doing every day and seeing how I could do them better. I enjoyed the training and felt a great sense of achievement by doing the course.
