Course Objectives
Abrasive Wheel course in accordance to Regulation 9 of the Provision and Use of
Work Equipment 1998.

This course covers the changing and use of all types of Abrasive Wheels specific to the user.

Designed For
The course is designed to provide each delegate with the
technical knowledge and practical experience to safely change
Abrasive Wheels to a safe system of work.

Course Content
• The requirements of the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974 and the Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998
with respect to Abrasive Wheels
• Approved advisory literature relating to the mounting of abrasive wheels
• Hazards arising from the use of abrasive wheels and precautions that should be observed
(noise, vibration, expiry dates)
• How to identify abrasive wheels as to type and characteristics
• Storing, handling and transporting abrasive wheels
• Inspecting and testing abrasive wheels
• The functions of all components used with abrasive wheels, including flanges, washers, bushes and nuts used in mounting
and including knowledge of the correct and incorrect methods of assembling all components and correct balancing of abrasive wheels
• The safe changing and use of abrasive wheels
• Personal Protective Equipment
• Written and practical assessments

A half day theory only course is also available
